Who is Ben West?
Elusive but daring, Ben
West is our international man of style, a true inspiration for living life
boldly and artfully. When he’s not jetting to California, dining in New
York or shopping in Paris, you’ll find him at Ben West Gallery in Hill City.
What is a giclée and how
do you pronounce it?
Ghee-clay, or as the French pronounce it,
Zee-clay, is French for “the spraying of ink.”
From a hundred inkjets more than
a million droplets of ink per second are sprayed on to a canvas or
watercolor paper spinning on a drum. Once completed, an image is comprised
of almost 20 billion droplets of ink. The latest Giclée Printing Technology
enhanced the standard 4-color process to an 8-color process. The resulting
print has no perceptible dot pattern, an endless array of richly saturated
color, and every nuance of the original image. The most archival, water
based light-fast inks available in the world are used. The latest inks offer
a 70-year light-fastness and UV-resistance under museum archival condition.
A Giclée Print is simply the closest duplication of an original artwork that
is humanly, mechanically, or technically possible.
Do you ship these
amazing works of art?
Yes, and we even make
our own boxes and crates. We absolutely aim to charge you only what it
costs us to ship your piece – we don’t make a profit on our shipping. Just
remember that silver lining: you’re not only getting a magnificent piece of
art, you’re also not paying sales tax on your purchase if you’re living in
another state.
Will my artwork
appreciate in value?
Certainly, we hope you
always appreciate your art (smile now), but we have no way of knowing for
every piece of art whether the monetary worth will increase. Some artists
work, however, is certain to appreciate, and we’ll communicate that to you
as you contemplate the purchase. We encourage our clients to purchase art
that speaks to their heart and their spirit, no matter the price.
Investment in art is an investment in your life and in beauty. Having said
that, before you re-sell your leather-framed artwork, contact us first!
